Lal komol nilkomol (2012) is a Bengali movie based on Rabindranath Tagore's short story of the same name. This animated film has been directed and storyboarded by Rupak Majumdar, who has also served as the sound designer and music composer for this film. It tells the story of love and sacrifice between father and son through a little boy Komal who thinks that his father, Gora Babu, is very old so he does not want him to come home late from work. So one day he waits for his dad outside his office until it closes to bring him home on time. After having dinner he tells his dad about his love for an actress in his school named Seema, who is also in the same class as him. His father is not so happy with this. The next day when he returns home late, Komal realises that it is actually Gora Babu who is singing in the office at night with Seema. Gora Babu tells Komal about his wife and child who died a long time ago and how he wants to be a father to Komal, but struggles with it because of his age. He goes to a nearby temple where a priest provides him a written register of all those people who have died and mentions the details of their death. He goes to the police station to check the register to find his wife's name. Meanwhile, Seema comes home to find her dad, Gora Babu, firstly annoyed by Komal's constant presence at home and then by his father's return. Seema asks her dad about how he is doing, but he replies that he is fine. The next day he tells his daughter that Komal would be leaving them out of respect for him as she has taken care of her. She then asks him why does he want Komal to leave if that is what he wants? He then reveals how much Komal means for him and what a great man he has become despite being so old. Gora Babu takes his mother's dress and gives it to Komal to wear for Seema. On the day of Komal's departure, he sees both his father and Seema off. Then Seema tells her dad that she is happy with him and no longer needs Komal anymore. Later on Komal arrives at the temple and waits for Father to wake up and then goes home, where he learns that his father has passed away overnight. He then goes back to the temple for a moment of silence before going home again.
